BUESCHER, GERHART MAKES RADIO SHOW APPEARANCE: INSIDE THE ARCA RE/MAX SERIES EXCLUSIVE |
"I'm in good shape," said Gerhart. "It was an unfortunate incident there and I ended up squaring off and hitting (the wall) at a very odd angle. With all the safety we have in these cars, it's a compliment to ARCA and their safety initiative and to all the people at Hardcore. They do a fantastic job." When asked if he was a victim of short track racing or if there was more to his racing incident with ARCA RE/MAX Series eight-time champion Frank Kimmel he replied, "I can't speak for anybody else's actions," explained Gerhart. "We took the green and went into turn one. A lap car snuck up which broke me trying to pass him and put me in an odd spot on the outside. I kept my line, tried to get everything I could and as a group of us came into turn three, I kind of got blindsided and got diagonal into the wall. That was that." Gerhart will race the No. 5 Eagle Warranty Chevrolet in the Nashville ARCA 150 at the Nashville Superspeedway coming up on April 7th. Pressed about whether or not he'd be in the car at Nashville after his Lakeland incident Gerhart said, "Without a question, yes. I'm in good shape." The Construct Corps PBG 250 winner James Buescher also made a special appearance live on the air with the Inside ARCA Crew. "It was exciting to go down to my first ARCA race and come home with a win. It was definitely very exciting," explained Buescher. Asked about his late race move that put him in the lead Buescher talked about how his car became better throughout the race. During the second pit stop the No. 32 Mercedes Homes Dodge crew didn't make any changes to the car except to take on tires and fuel. "I think our pass for the lead was so late in the race because we waited so long to pit and had to come back up through the field. By the time we got back up there the race was almost over," said Buescher. "By the time we caught up to the front we were starting to run out of laps and I had to get the job done as fast as I could."
