GERHART TAPS MYERS FOR DAYTONA

LANCASTER, PA (1-31-06) – Three-time Daytona ARCA 200 winner Bobby Gerhart knows a thing or two about superspeedway, restrictor plate racing.

And of course that’s why his Bobby Gerhart Racing (BGR) team is sought after for driver development when the season-opening Daytona event rolls around each season.

That’s also why California native Andrew Myers has signed a deal with Gerhart to compete in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo from the BGR stable for this year’s 43rd annual Daytona ARCA 200.

“Andrew is coming off a strong season last year,” said Gerhart. “He tested well with us over the winter and I believe he’ll run as strong as anyone at Daytona” said Gerhart.

The Daytona event marks Myer’s career-first ARCA RE/MAX Series attempt.

“I want to thank Bobby for this awesome opportunity,” said Myers. “For my first race at Daytona, I can’t think of a better team to start there with. The Gerhart’s reputation at Daytona speaks for itself.”

Myers received the NASCAR Grand National West Driver Achievement Award in 2005 after finishing in the top-ten in six of the last ten races of the season.

“I’ll be bringing my West Series co-crew chiefs, Phil Bonifield and Jamie Aube, to help me communicate; but it’s up to me to race my best at Daytona,” added Myers. “Bobby is providing a great car, and I know my crew chiefs’ Phil and Jamie will just try and help me get the most out of it.”

Myers is slated to run the #7 BGR Monte Carlo in the Daytona ACRA 200 with supporting sponsorship from Toyota of Escondido and Red Line Oil. It’s the same car that Kyle Krisiloff finished second in at Talladega Superspeedway in 2005.
